What is Sustainable Development?
Sustainable development is “Development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”
Sustainability involves safeguarding and using existing natural resources in such a way so as to ensure all people can satisfy their basic needs whilst allowing development and prosperity for everyone. Our basic needs are what we need to survive. This includes food, water and shelter.
